What inspired your design for Cadbury Dairy Milk?
I bounced ideas off my brother Brendan and eventually came up with a waterfall of
milk turning into monks who turned the milk into chocolate as building blocks for
the Giant’s Causeway. I wanted to maintain the glass and a half of Irish milk as
a main theme and knew that purple, white and chocolate colours were very important
to the brand. I used the Giant’s Causeway because it is a big symbol of Ireland
and I liked the idea of a Giant’s Causeway made of chocolate.
What other design or illustration work have you done before?
Just art in school.
What would you do if you won the €10,000 prize?
Use it for college ,a Leaving Cert holiday and a small contribution to my brother
Brendan for his help. I would also make a donation to Our Lady’s Hospital in Crumlin
where I spent the first 4 weeks of my life.
What do you think makes your wrapper design extra special?
It’s recognisable yet unique and the optical illusion is pretty cool!
